Canon Digital Camcorder: Great Picture Quality, Not So Good At Focusing

Whew! When you look at the price of the Canon digital camcorder and especially that of the GL-1, you would be quite astonished at the two thousand seven hundred price tag, which even though it does include features such as 20x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom, still seems to be on the steep side. However, with a Canon digital camcorder you are assured of getting excellent lenses that along with excellent quality optical image stabilization does make it easier to fork out a couple of thousand dollars and more since with the high quality lenses that come with a Canon digital camcorder you get the right balance between color, sharpness and contrast.

Know How It Stands Up To Competing Models

Look also to the size of the LCD color viewfinder and don't settle for anything less than two and half inches, and if you notice it, there is also IEEE Digital port as well as a separate input port for analog which is something that you may not find in other makes of digital camcorders. And, before you thump your money down on the Canon digital camcorder, makes sure that you select a model and know what other makes it is competing with. For example, if you look at the G-1 Canon digital camcorder you may find that its closest competitor is the Sony 3CCD TRV-900, and thus what may sway you in favor of the Canon digital camcorder is its more professional features even though it looks a lot like its Sony counterpart. In face, Canon is so pleased with this camcorder that it is planning on introducing a higher end version that will retail at about the same price as the GL-1 though it comes with 20x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom which is the same as the GL-1.

Once you have tried your hand with a Canon digital camcorder, you will find certain aspects to it very much to your liking such as the excellent picture quality and also the exposure controls are also good. However, where it does fall short is with the color viewfinder that is not able to provide proper focusing and it falls short of its competitors in this regard.

And, anybody that uses the Canon digital camcorder including the GL-1 has found it to be worth the purchase price and are especially satisfied with the picture and LCD that allows users to hold the camera in different positions, which is something that makes up for the difficulty in focusing and other advantages to it are the frame mode as well as full manual mode that lets users control images completely.
