Panasonic PV-GS500 Camcorder

Panasonic PV-GS500 Camcorder is the replacement for the earlier Panasonic PV-GS400. It follows the most recent trend in the electronic market to reduce prices at the cost of additional technical bells and whistles. What are the performance differences between the GS400 and the GS500 Camcorders?

The GS-400 is noisier than the GS-500, enough to where it could adversely affect the quality of some videos. Both models still posses three separate .257 “CCD photo sensors to handle the Red, Green and Blue. The GS-500 has excellent color and gray shade portrayal much better than the GS-400. Some experts stress color saturation as a good thing for camcorders but I disagree and find the advantages of the GS-GS500 with its new null gate to be superior.

While I am ready for the new SD variant camcorder, I would definitely pass it up for a Panasonic PV-GS500. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder that is just packed with goodies that both the professional and amateur need. The easy to use LCD screen and the right handle strap made it quite easy to use in a rapid mobile circumstance. The overall sleekness of this camcorder really hooked my interest. Probably because it looks like an earlier Panasonic Digital Camera but the lens system is quite large for this line of Panasonic camcorders. The manual controls at least of the lens focus system are equal to the more professional line of camcorders. Some other parts that I like about this Panasonic offering in the use of the Lithium Oxide battery. This power unit functions so perfect that I recommend it for my PDAs and other smaller electronics. Moderate use with recharging should allow you to use it longer than a year. I would say eighteen months but I am very careful with my batteries. This marvelous camcorder has a SD slot for a 2-gigabyte secure storage device for future memory expansion requirements. This tells me that Panasonic may create a hybrid or convert it to a SD. Panasonic’s mind is constantly turning and I like what I hear.

I love the shape of the Panasonic PV-GS500 it is so sleek and so Sci-Fi. Maybe seventy years ago, it would have been called Art Deco, whatever you call it; this machine shouts sexy camcorder. Somehow, I have a hard time getting excited about something that has all the design excitement of a carved stone. It is sure nice that someone likes good design as well!
